Abstract: The purpose of this research, is to investigate whether, during the economic crisis, various private secondary-education organizations in Greece including secondary tutorial schools, private schools, foreign language centers, special course delivery services (private tutorial schools) and study centers, develop and pursue a marketing strategy. Other points covered include demographics, characteristics of organisations, specific strategy focus, amount spent on such strategy and possible changes on both academic and financial level. Possible correlations between specific marketing actions and results were calculated. The statistical analysis of the data, showed that the implementation of a marketing plan (and the amount invested on this project) positively affect students’ academic performance, new enrolments, organizations’ earnings and recruitment of new scientific staff. Twenty close-ended questionnaires were used to collect the data. During research period, many private schools had ceased their duties because of summer holiday time. As a result, a small number of the data was collected from these schools and it will not be possible to generalize any results for the ones.

URN: urn:nbn:de:0111-pedocs-190959, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3271564
Abstract: The present research aimed at investigating the perceptions of pre-school teachers concerning the institution of school self-evaluation in Greece. More specifically, the semi-structured interview tool was meticulously implemented, in order for teachers’ views to be thoroughly explored in a concrete spatial, temporal and social context. This method managed to examine effectively the preschool teachers’ views, along with the variables and the experiences that affect them. In terms of questionnaires’ method, open-ended questions were used. The material collected from the responses was subdivided into conceptual subsections and then coded into functional definitions. The processing indicated, that the majority of the participants believed, that self-evaluation should be considered particularly important and that it should be characterized by a set of key elements such as: clear purposes, responsible and organized execution, as well as objectivity of judgments. Participants also claimed, that sloppiness, fear, and insecurity, along with lack of organization and information may lead to procedure failure.

Abstract: The Archaeological Museum of the Acropolis. Strategy is always an important tool for the development of cultural organizations that want to realize their mission and vision. Implementing a strategic management plan is essential for any organization. “Any organization that adopts the concept of strategic design should select elements from various management models that will then adapt to the specific operating conditions and the place where it operates.” There are some basic common steps in all models, since when one tries to develop and design a strategy for managing each organization, one must answer the following fundamental questions: – What is the point we want to go? – initiative purposes, -What is our point now? -reviewing the current situation, -What do we need to do to be where we want to go? -Select a strategy, -What are we going to do? -control. The development of the strategy must be focused on the requirements and needs of the target audience and competition must always be calculated. Mission and objectives can be reviewed whenever necessary In this paper the concept of strategy is first written out and the planning process for the formation of strategic cultural units is analyzed. The case study examines the Acropolis Museum in Athens, the inauguration of which took place on July 21, 2009. The Acropolis Museum is a Legal Entity of Public Law, belonging to the Ministry of Culture, but it is autonomous in several areas. It is run by a Board of Directors, chaired by Professor of Archeology Dimitris Pantermalis. The new Museum of the Acropolis offers all the services provided by the modern museums of the 21st century. Describe the strategic plan of the organization at work, and on the basis of a SWOT analysis, its degree of viability is being examined for this period of economic crisis. It also analyzes the degree of efficiency of the strategy for future development of the museum and evaluates the strategy on the basis of qualitative and quantitative criteria.

Job satisfaction among Greek secondary teachers and the role of school
Styliani Lalagka, Ministry of Education, Greece
Published online: 14 October 2017, JCETR, 1(1), pp. 23-32.
URN: urn:nbn:de:0111-pedocs-190979, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3598032
Abstract: It appears that during financial crisis, Greek school teachers are not influenced by external factors for their job satisfaction other than the significant influence of their school principals. Since satisfied teachers consist the most important factor for effective schools, the aim of the present study was to investigate within the context of secondary education, the level of job satisfaction concerning school principals’ performance, impact and managerial abilities. Variables such as “school premises”, “provision of logistics and teaching materials”, “job relationships”, “teachers’ personal development”, “school planning”, “administrative issues” and “principals’ praise, criticism and behaviour” were investigated through a quantitative method with 139 participants. The results revealed that gender did not affect their level of job satisfaction concerning the first three variables whereas age and marital status made significant difference in terms of their satisfaction concerning principals’ impact on teachers’ personal development. The variable of age affected their satisfaction regarding school principals’ contribution on administrative issues. Positive associations were found between the examined variables. Although most of the teachers felt satisfied being at school, they indicated that “partiality” was the weakest personal trait of many school principals and stated that “Fairness” was the best qualification a school principal should have.

URN: urn:nbn:de:0111-pedocs-190982, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.3598044
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the views of the preschool children of the island of Chios on the integration of refugee children in public kindergartens. Greece, due to its geographical position, is a country that hosts a large number of refugees and immigrants who were aiming to come to our country to improve their living standards and their living conditions (Gotovos, 2002; Damanakis, 1997). A particularly large wave in recent years has come from the east and the Arab countries, with the result that the islands of the North Aegean are welcoming refugees, who are gradually moving to the hinterland. After the massive arrival of refugees and immigrants in our country, the refugee issue is a major issue at all levels: economic, social, political, cultural. Especially after the summer of 2015 where there was an increasing number of refugees, the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs had announced a plan for the smooth integration of children into Greek education by 2016. The North Aegean islands receive daily refugees and immigrants who are staying at Refugee Hosted Centers.
